Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist to help keep guests, team members and brand safe while delivering a friendly shopping experience. The role involves using intelligence-led tactics, crisis response, de-escalation, and documenting incidents with Target's case management and video surveillance systems, and supporting theft prevention.

Eligible applicants must be 18+, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
• Effective communication skills
• Work both independently and with a team
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

Responsibilities

• Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments
• Greet guests at varying distances and initiate warm, helpful interactions
• Help guests find what they need and resolve issues for a smooth shopping experience
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude
• Promote a physical security culture and maintain safe standards store-wide
• Respond to and document security incidents in a timely manner
• Use de-escalation tactics when responding to incidents across the store
• Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and support theft apprehension
• Prevent theft and shortage at the front of store through checks and trend awareness
• Submit documentation in case management system following AP policy
• Understand and use Target's video surveillance system
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety and compliance
