Job summary

Target is hiring a Security Specialist in California to help keep guests and team members safe while maintaining store operations and protecting merchandise. This role emphasizes crisis response, de‑escalation, and collaboration with store leadership and public safety partners.

You will perform security duties, document incidents, and support the loss prevention program while delivering a welcoming guest experience and upholding Target's safety standards.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Meet state/local licensure and/or legal requirements
• Welcoming and helpful attitude to guests and team members
• Ability to use multiple frequency devices and handheld scanners
• Effective communication skills; able to work independently or in a team

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and provide a helpful interaction at various distances
• Assist guests in finding items or resolving issues for a smooth experience
• Document incidents timely in case management systems
• Respond to security incidents with de-escalation tactics
• Conduct theft prevention and support response as needed
