Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a COMSEC Security Specialist to provide daily COMSEC support onsite in El Segundo, CA. You will manage inventories, conduct briefings, and oversee secure equipment and materials to ensure compliance with NSA/CSS standards.

You will handle Top-Secret/SAP/SCI operations, maintain security databases, and coordinate with teams to uphold information security. A strong background in encryption devices and DIAS is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with 3–5 years’ COMSEC experience.
  • Current Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility (US citizenship required).
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
  • Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph.
  • Experience with NSA Type‑I Encryption Devices (KG-175s, KG-185, KIV-7, KG-250s, Omni, DTD, SDS, VIPERs, STE with KSV-21).
  • Experience with NISP or SCI.
  • Knowledge of NSA/CSS 3‑16 and standard COMSEC tasks (DIAS, COMSEC briefings, inventories, incident reporting).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day COMSEC support across the enterprise for collateral, SCI, and SAP activities.
  • Inventory, inspect, and oversee secure equipment and classified materials.
  • Administer Top-Secret inventory control and documentation for COMSEC items.
  • Conduct COMSEC briefings before personnel access is granted.
  • Courier classified information and maintain receipt records.
  • Maintain COMSEC databases and security incident records.
  • Understand security classification markings and vault security requirements.

COMSEC Security Specialist

This position will be located 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Provide day-to-day support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) activities across the enterprise.
  • Conduct secure equipment (e.g., secure telephones and encryption devices) and classified keying material inventories, inspections and other COMSEC related support and oversight functions.
  • Administer a Top-Secret inventory and document control program to account for COMSEC equipment and materials.
  • Conduct COMSEC briefings for personnel about their COMSEC responsibilities prior to granting access.
  • Courier classified information and author receipts for classified materials.
  • Maintain internal security databases and other records (e.g., COMSEC, security incidents, etc.).
  • Have knowledge of security classification, associated markings and physical security requirements for secure vaults and rooms.
What You Need to be Successful
  • High School Diploma/GED and a minimum 3-5 years’ experience with COMSEC.
  • Current Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
  • Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph.
  • Experience with NSA Type‑I Encryption Devices: KG-175s, KG-185, KIV-7, KG-250s, Omni, DTD, SDS, VIPERs and Secure Terminal Equipment (STE) with KSV-21.
  • Experience with NISP and/or SCI.
  • Knowledge of NSA/CSS 3‑16 and standard COMSEC tasks (e.g., updating DIAS, COMSEC briefings, inventories, reporting COMSEC incidents, loading key material).
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
  • Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Complete COMSEC Manager's course within 6 months of starting.
How You Can Stand Out
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work or military experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with COMSEC materials.
  • Experience in the handling and safeguarding of classified information.
  • Experience with NSA Type‑I Encryption Devices: KG-175s, KG-185, KIV-7, KG-250s, Omni, DTD, SDS, VIPERs and Secure Terminal Equipment (STE) with KSV-21.
  • Experience with NISP and/or SCI.
  • Experience instructing users on proper use and protection of COMSEC material.
  • Experience using COMSEC Fill Devices (SKL, RASKL, SDS, etc.).
  • Experience with COMSEC specific tracking databases (CARDS, DIAS, etc.).
  • Experience as a Cryptographic Network (CRYPTONET) Controlling Authority (CONAUTH).
