Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks a COMSEC (Communications Security) Security Specialist to manage communications security materials and protect classified communications. This role requires a current Top-Secret Clearance and experience in COMSEC tasks.

Responsibilities include conducting inventories for classified materials, administering a Top-Secret inventory control, and providing training on COMSEC responsibilities. The role offers a competitive pay ranging from $41.36 to $62.04 per hour.

COMSEC (Communications Security) Security Specialist

This role serves as the primary custodian and manager of all communications security materials, equipment, and cryptographic devices within the organization. It ensures the protection of classified and sensitive communications through comprehensive material accountability, security education programs, and rigorous compliance oversight.

Location: Full‑time, on‑site in Chantilly, VA.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Provide day‑to‑day support for Collateral, SCI, and SAP activities across the enterprise.
• Conduct secure equipment and classified keying material inventories, inspections, and other COMSEC related support and oversight functions.
• Administer a Top‑Secret inventory and document control program to account for COMSEC equipment and materials.
• Conduct COMSEC briefings for personnel about their COMSEC responsibilities prior to granting access.
• Courier classified information and author receipts for classified materials.
• Maintain internal security databases and other records (e.g., COMSEC, security incidents, etc.).
• Apply knowledge of security classification, associated markings, and physical security requirements for secure vaults and rooms.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Security Specialist IV – COMSEC

• High School Diploma and 3–5 years of experience with COMSEC.
• Current Top‑Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility. U.S. citizenship is required.
• Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
• Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph.
• Experience with NISP and/or SCI.
• Experience with NSA Type‑I Encryption Devices: KG‑175, KG‑185, KIV‑7, KG‑250, Omni, DTD, SDS, VIPERs, and Secure Terminal Equipment (STE) with KSV‑21.
• Knowledge of NSA/CSS 3‑16 and standard COMSEC tasks (e.g., updating DIAS, COMSEC briefings, inventories, reporting COMSEC incidents, loading key material).
• Must complete COMSEC Manager's course within 6 months of starting.
• Proven track record in COMSEC audits, inspections, and compliance activities.

How You Can Stand Out

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work or military experience.
• 5+ years of experience working with COMSEC materials.
• Experience interfacing with government security agencies.
• Experience in the handling and safeguarding of classified information.
• Experience instructing users on proper use and protection of COMSEC material.
• Experience using COMSEC Fill Devices (SKL, RASKL, SDS, etc.).
• Experience with COMSEC specific tracking databases (CARDS, DIAS, etc.).
• Experience as a Cryptographic Network (CRYPTONET) Controlling Authority (CONAUTH).

Pay: $41.36 – $62.04 per hour.
