  • Research current IT security trends and apply best practices.
  • Educate staff on new security tools and protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality and employee privacy per department policy.

Primary Location:2200 W. University Drive, McKinney, Texas, 75071We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Job Summary:Provide department support by assisting staff members with their roles. Acquire knowledge of terminology, procedures, and/or workflow used in the security services department including equipment and software resources.Required Qualifications:Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMonitor network activity for security threats and investigating incidents.Set up and manage cybersecurity tools like firewalls and encryption software.Support compliance efforts for TAC 202 and NIST 800 standards by maintaining documentation and procedures.Conduct penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities.Develop reports on security incidents and assist in remediation efforts.Research current IT security trends and helping apply best practices.Educate staff on new security tools and protocols.Maintain confidentiality and employee privacy as required by department policy and procedure.Supplemental FunctionsPerform other duties as assigned.Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and Core Values.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesBasic familiarity with terms like firewalls, encryption, malware, phishing, etc.Basic understanding of password hygiene, MFA, and secure browsing habitsKnowledge of cybersecurity frameworks like NIST, TAC 202, and othersWillingness to acquire new skills and adapt to unknown territoryStrong written and verbal communication skillsPhysical Demands & Working ConditionsLight Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
