Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a skilled Security Service Technician to service commercial security systems across the Bay Area, focusing on access control, CCTV, and fiber infrastructure. The ideal candidate works independently, resolves issues with minimal supervision, and acts as a trusted field technical resource.

The role involves troubleshooting, fiber terminations, network work, project support, and mentoring junior technicians. Onsite work in San Jose, with regular Bay Area travel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in electronic security, access control, CCTV, low-voltage systems, or fiber optics.
• Strong troubleshooting and service experience.
• Experience with access control platforms such as Lenel and AMAG, and video systems such as Genetec.
• Ability to work independently and manage service calls from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair access control and CCTV systems.
• Service IP and analog camera systems, including connectivity and performance issues.
• Perform fiber terminations, panel work, and network troubleshooting.
• Respond to customer service calls and provide professional onsite support.
• Support installation projects as needed and assist with system programming.

Security Service Technician - San Jose, California

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Security Service Technician to support commercial security systems throughout the Bay Area. This role is heavily focused on troubleshooting, service, and maintenance of access control, video surveillance, and fiber infrastructure. The ideal candidate can work independently, resolve customer issues with minimal supervision, and serve as a trusted technical resource in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair access control and CCTV systems.

• Service IP and analog camera systems, including connectivity and performance issues.

• Perform fiber terminations, panel work, and network troubleshooting.

• Respond to customer service calls and provide professional onsite support.

• Support installation projects as needed and assist with system programming.

• Mentor junior technicians and contribute technical expertise on complex projects.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of experience in electronic security, access control, CCTV, low-voltage systems, or fiber optics.

• Strong troubleshooting and service experience.

• Experience with access control platforms such as Lenel and AMAG, and video systems such as Genetec.

• Ability to work independently and manage service calls from start to finish.

Preferred Qualifications

• Security system programming experience.

• Industry certifications.
• Experience leading projects or mentoring technicians.
• Experience in electronic security integration.

Schedule

• Monday-Friday

• 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

• Daily reporting to the San Jose office with local travel throughout the Bay Area.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
