Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Security Technician to troubleshoot and service intrusion, IP CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems from multiple manufacturers, delivering clear, proactive customer guidance on next steps.

You will inspect systems to ensure proper functionality, provide written reports, coordinate inspections with authorities when required, and offer recommendations and quotes to keep the facility running efficiently and safely.

Qualifications

• 5 years experience in low‑voltage or security industry.
• Excellent knowledge of major security platforms (Bosch/Radionics, Honeywell, Firelite, Silent Knight, DMP, DSC).
• Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
• Ability to pass thorough background and identity checks.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

What you will do

A Johnson Controls Security Technician is a troubleshooter and service expert possessing knowledge and experience with intrusion, IP CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems from multiple manufacturers. The candidate will possess strong verbal communication skills as they identify the needs of the customer and then inform them of next steps and processes to repair the system as needed to return full functionality. The candidate will inspect these systems to ensure proper functionality and provide written or digital reports to the customer and company as needed. The technician will provide the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service related items. As a trusted advisor, the technician will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service.

How you will do it

Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring. Readjust, repair, or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation. Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies. Perform repair and inspections of intrusion detection, IP CCTV, access control systems and fire alarms (if applicable). Assist fellow technicians with system repairs and complete minor repairs including battery replacement. Test operation of the system to the customer monitoring center to establish service connectivity. Complete all forms accurately and prepare customer paperwork as required. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to unload ladder from fleet vehicle and climb ladder.
• Ability to operate fleet vehicle in a safe manner.

Compensation & Benefits

Hiring hourly range: $26–$34 per hour. The position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. Exceptional candidates with unique skills may bring compensation beyond the typical profile. The rate will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
