Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Security Service Technician to service and maintain intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems. You will diagnose issues, test functionality, and ensure OSHA-safe work practices while meeting customer expectations.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in fire and life safety, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work independently. The role involves travel to various job sites and is eligible for company-paid benefits and

Qualifications

• 3+ years in fire and life safety industry or as an apprentice/technician.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record if driving role.
• Strong working knowledge of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.
• Ability to work independently and complete standard service jobs without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform service, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and maintenance of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems.
• Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.
• Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with codes, standards, and customer requirements.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security and low-voltage systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete service work safely and efficiently.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
• Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

The Security Service Technician is responsible for independently performing service, and maintenance of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems. The technician ensures systems operate properly, meets customer expectations, and supports compliance with applicable codes and standards.

• Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Compensation

• $28.00 - $35.00 depending on experience and certifications
