Job summary

Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (MPFI) in Jupiter, FL seeks a Head of Security to lead security operations and incident response for the research community. The role supervises access control, surveillance, risk assessments, and staff training while coordinating with MPFI leadership to protect people, assets, and facilities.

The successful candidate will oversee SOP development, on-site and on-call incident management, and collaboration with external responders to ensure safety,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and a minimum of five years of related experience in a similar facility; equivalent combinations may be considered.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Security Officer Class “D” license and be trained in AED, CPR and First Aid.
• Experience supervising security staff and coordinating with leadership on security, safety, and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary on-site incident lead for security, safety, and facilities events.
• Develop and train security staff on response protocols for alarms and emergencies.
• Oversee security SOPs, post orders, and emergency procedures.
• Manage access control and visitor protocols, and coordinate with facilities, IT, HR, and external partners.
• Monitor and report on incidents with clear documentation and timely leadership notifications.
• Coordinate with third-party security vendors and MPFI leadership as needed.
• Conduct risk assessments and post-incident reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
