Job summary

Pacific Science Center is seeking a Security Professional – Floater to cover planned PTO, overnight shifts, and other staffing gaps. The role focuses on guarding staff and visitors, monitoring cameras, and responding to incidents while maintaining a welcoming, inclusive environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 18+ years of age, and current first aid/CPR certifications, plus English proficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Current first aid and CPR training and certifications (or within six months of hire).
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to use cameras and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform lock-ups at exhibit closing time and later as other events conclude.
• Perform interior and exterior roves with a focus on safety and security.
• Actively monitor security cameras to maintain full view of premises.
• Respond rapidly and appropriately to emergencies.
• Identify and respond to incidents, hazards, and unauthorized activity.
• Provide exemplary customer service when assisting guests and staff.
• Escort guests to and from locations and assist with wayfinding.
• Monitor radio calls and respond to requests for support.
• Maintain security records through written documentation.
