Security Police Officer - Armed - 40 hrs/wk - Variable Shift - Wyandotte

Under general supervision, monitors Henry Ford Health facilities and properties to protect persons and property associated with Henry Ford Health against injury or loss. Directs visitors, patients, and employees to appropriate locations and intervenes to prevent and control disturbances. Keeps appropriate persons informed of activities, events, and incidents. Summons appropriate assistance as necessary.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), required. College degree preferred.
• Successful completion of a psychological evaluation.
• Must be at least 21 years of age for Security Police Officer-Armed role.
• Currently employed full-time as a police officer within the State of Michigan;
• OR a separated officer from full-time service from a police department within Michigan (retired or resigned in good standing);
• OR an out-of-state officer with reciprocal licensure as defined by MCOLES;
• Up to one year of security experience at Henry Ford Health;
• OR five or more years of complex security operations experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Maintain a valid unexpired Michigan operator’s license.
• Successfully pass firearms training.
• Satisfactorily complete state minimum training certification requirements and required testing. Maintain annual training and testing requirements.

External candidates hired as Private Security Police Officers must meet the following criteria. Failure to do so will result in revocation of employment offer:

• Successful psychiatric evaluation
• Successful background investigation
• Fingerprinting for state evaluation
• No convictions of felonies or misdemeanors involving dishonesty, fraud, impersonation, illegal weapon possession, alcohol offenses, controlled substances, dishonorable discharge, insanity, warrants, or possession of unexpired CPL
• Must pass and be certified as a PA 330 officer unless qualified for an exception.
