Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies in Irvine, CA is seeking a Security Platform Engineer to drive security initiatives across the vehicle software and hardware stack, balancing security with business velocity. You will partner with product teams to embed secure design patterns from firmware to cloud, develop threat models, and build scalable security platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years in product security, embedded security, or related security engineering.
• Strong programming experience in Go, Rust, Python, or Java.
• Knowledge of cryptographic principles and secure protocols.
• Ability to work across firmware, embedded systems and cloud services with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end vehicle security initiatives across software and hardware domains.
• Develop and maintain threat models to guide architecture decisions.
• Design security features enabling scalable development practices.
• Arbitrate cross-functional discussions for practical security controls.
• Guide secure design patterns and risk assessment with product teams.
• Build and maintain security platforms and tools for secure features.
• Champion security automation across a growing fleet and product portfolio.
