Job summary

Burlington Coat Factory Whse. Corp. invites students to join the BRIC Intern program, a 10-week on-site internship at our Burlington corporate headquarters.

You will support Crisis Management, Investigations, and Incident Response with a current BRIC Specialist as a buddy. Ideal candidates are pursuing a related Bachelor's degree, graduating in 2027–2028, with strong communication skills and an interest in security operations.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with graduation between December 2027 and August 2028.
  • Affinity for safety and security, analyzing incident information, and building a career in Response & Investigations.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and proficiency in Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate intake of incident reports and assess events to determine escalation needs.
  • Establish communications between stakeholders and support response as needed.
  • Develop expertise in operating CCTV systems and post orders to ensure surveillance effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with field partners to ensure proper assessment and asset protection.

Our Internship Program

Our internship program is a starting point for a career journey at Burlington, and here is a peek at what you can expect: A 10‑week summer program working with our Global Security Operations Center where you’ll lead and contribute to projects that support the safety and security of associates across the company. Hands‑on experience and responsibility in Crisis Management and Investigations. Direct mentorship from a current BRIC Specialist who will be your “buddy” for support and guidance throughout the program experience. 100% on‑site experience requiring the ability to be on‑site every day at our corporate headquarters in Burlington, NJ.

Our Day in the Life of a Burlington Response & Investigations Center Intern

Facilitate intake of incident reports from store teams and assess events against established guidance to determine appropriate communication and escalation needs. Establish communications between relevant stakeholders and support response as needed. Leverage the BRIC’s suite of technology and resources to monitor for any threats or risks to Burlington operations and safety and monitor situations accordingly including physical security threats and weather‑related risks. Execute internal and external investigation support. Engage in broad investigative initiatives at the direction of Supervisors and Managers. Utilize case management and open‑source intelligence (OSINT) platforms to identify and investigate theft, fraud activity, threats, and persons of interest. Vigilantly monitor alarm activity, promptly respond to incidents, and effectively communicate with relevant stakeholders. Ensure a swift and appropriate response to alarms, minimizing potential risks, and maintain clear communication channels to enhance overall security measures. Develop expertise in operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing CCTV systems to ensure effective surveillance and security measures. Leverage CCTV systems to remotely audit third‑party guard adherence to guidelines and post orders. Responsible for evaluating and executing emergency guard requests. Collaborate with field partners to ensure the situation is assessed properly, and assets are protected if the situation requires immediate action.

You’ll Come With Our BRIC Interns

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Administration, International Relations, or similarly related field—flexible, as this role covers a wide array of functions). Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree between December 2027 and August 2028. Knowledge of the IC System and NIMS is desired but not required. Affinity for safety and security, analyzing incident information, responding under pressure, and building a career in Response & Investigations. Data‑driven problem‑solver who can build and maintain productive partnerships by livingour core values. Ability to think critically with high attention to detail and listening. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and a proficiency in developing clear and concise communication products. A self‑starter who takes initiative with a sense of curiosity, adaptability, and courage to always be a student of the business. Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Our Compensation and Benefits

An hourly pay of $23 per hour.
