Job summary

AssemblyAI is seeking a Security Operations Engineer to join our IT & Security team. You will own day-to-day security operations, maintain a mature GRC program, and drive compliance through audits, evidence collection, and automation.

You will work closely with engineers, sales, and legal to respond to security questionnaires and ensure governance across our AI platform and infrastructure. This is a high-ownership role with opportunities to grow technical skills in automation and tooling.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in security operations
• 2+ years of experience with compliance audit cycles
• One or more security certifications—CISA, Security+, AWS Security Specialty, or equivalent
• Experience executing recurring security operations work: reviews, vulnerability tracking, alert triage, or control monitoring
• Strong organization and ability to run multi-stakeholder evidence collection cycles
• Strong written communication skills in audit documentation and policy runbooks

Responsibilities

• Drive SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI 4.0 audit cycles and coordinate with auditors
• Own the compliance automation platform (Vanta) and monitor control status
• Run vendor and third-party risk reviews and security assessments
• Respond to customer and vendor security questionnaires and RFP sections
• Drive vulnerability triage and remediation tracking across teams
• Monitor alerts from endpoint, cloud, identity, and app security tools
• Support incident response with evidence collection and timelines
• Build runbooks and automation to reduce manual toil
