You will collaborate with software teams to integrate security into the SDLC, assist with documentation and remediation tracking, and gain hands-on experience with AI-enabled security tools and cloud security practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or another technical field before start date.
• Foundational understanding of cybersecurity, information security, application security, network security, cloud security, or technology risk concepts.
• Foundational knowledge of network protocols, security fundamentals, IAM, data privacy, data protection, or secure software development concepts.
• Interest in scripting or automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
• Strong communication, collaboration, analytical thinking, discretion, attention to detail, and learning agility for teamwork.
• Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required; visa sponsorship will not be pursued.
• Preferred: graduation between Dec 2026 and Jun 2027.
• Preferred: coursework/projects/internships in cybersecurity or related fields.
• Preferred: awareness of security standards, regulatory compliance, data privacy, security governance, risk management.
• Preferred: familiarity with security monitoring, threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, endpoint protection, IAM concepts.
• Preferred: exposure to security tools or processes used to investigate alerts and support remediation.
• Preferred: interest in DevSecOps, cloud security, AI security.
• Preferred: interest in cybersecurity certifications; not required for early-career.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security systems and events to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Triage and investigate security or operational issues to determine root causes and mitigation strategies.
• Support secure network, endpoint, identity, access management, application security, and cloud security activities under guidance.
• Assist with security documentation, assessment findings, remediation tracking, reporting, and control implementation.
• Collaborate with software development and product teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle and support secure coding practices.
• Research emerging cyber threats and AI-enabled security risks and control approaches.
• Use AI-enabled cybersecurity tools for threat detection, alert triage, analysis, documentation, and investigation while validating outputs.
• Support security control implementation and monitoring for cloud-based or enterprise technology services.
• Apply structured prompt design techniques when using AI agent-enabled security tools.
• Collaborate across cybersecurity, engineering, product, risk, operations, and business teams to strengthen secure technology delivery and reduce enterprise risk.
