Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer (Unarmed) in Sterling, VA to protect tenants and visitors across commercial real estate and other sites. You’ll provide attentive customer service, perform routine patrols, monitor access, and maintain clear incident reporting.

Qualified applicants typically have customer service experience, the ability to lift up to 20 lbs, a guard card or license, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

• The ability to lift up to 20 lbs is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in accordance with laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials as required, and report concerns.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and emergencies calmly and according to protocols.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain logs for incidents and patrols.

What You’ll Do

• Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, vendors, and/or personnel while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of building interiors, exterior grounds, parking areas, access points, and perimeter areas to help identify unusual conditions and help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials as required by site procedures, and report access concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established emergency protocols.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain required activity logs for incidents, patrols, and security-related observations.

Minimum Requirements

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• The ability to lift up to 20 lbs is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
