Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a part-time Security Officer (Unarmed Patrol Checkpoint) in Sterling, VA. You will conduct routine patrols, monitor areas, deter incidents, support access control, and provide excellent customer service to tenants and visitors.

The role emphasizes a visible security presence, incident response, and accurate reporting while offering flexible Daytime and Evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• The ability to lift up to 20 lbs is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check will be conducted as required by law.
• Drug screening may be required where permitted by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, vendors, and personnel while carrying out site-specific security procedures and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of building interiors, exterior grounds, parking areas, access points, and perimeter areas to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials as required, and report access concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional manner following emergency protocols.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain activity logs for incidents, patrols, and observations.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, vendors, and/or personnel while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of building interiors, exterior grounds, parking areas, access points, and perimeter areas to help identify unusual conditions and help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify credentials as required by site procedures, and report access concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established emergency protocols.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain required activity logs for incidents, patrols, and security-related observations.

Minimum Requirements:

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• The ability to lift up to 20 lbs is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
