Job summary

Responsibilities

• Work all shifts including weekends and holidays; may require Virginia Driver's License and a valid driving record.

Job description

**NOTE - This shift is Friday - Tuesday, 6am to 230pm.

The Security Officer provides security services to VCUHS by courteously assisting staff, visitors and patients; enforcing rules and regulations of the hospitals; projecting a positive image; and promoting a safe healthcare environment.

The Security Officer conveys an image of professionalism, behaving in a way that is conducive to good hospital and community relations. This is an unarmed, non-sworn security position.

• Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: N/A
• Experience REQUIRED: Previous knowledge of security and/or law enforcement measures and techniques at a level generally acquired during 6 to 12 months of on-the-job training and orientation in such techniques or college curriculum in Administration of Justice
• Experience PREFERRED: One (1) year of security, public safety or law enforcement work experience
• Education/training REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Education/training PREFERRED: Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related field
• Independent action(s) required: De-escalates agitated patients, both individually and as a member of a team.
• Independent action(s) required: Prevents potentially risky and/or violent situations.
• Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A
• Additional position requirements: Ability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays and extended hours based on schedule and organizational needs.
• Additional position requirements: Some Security Officer roles may require valid Virginia Driver's License and acceptable driving record that reflects safe and lawful motor vehicle operation.

Compensation Range

$15.69 - $23.53
