Full-time, 40 hours per week, evening shift, five 8-hour shifts (3:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.), Sunday through Thursday. Weekends and holidays required as needed.
Job Summary
- The Security Officer shall seek to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, employees, and visitors of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.
- Protection of Medical Center buildings, properties, and premises.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in security, healthcare, or related field.
Minimum skills/abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy and work processing knowledge.
- Ability to make quick, accurate decisions under pressure.
- Ability to handle stressful and sensitive situations involving the public.
Certification/Licensure:
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Must obtain and maintain required training, including but not limited to:
- Basic Life Support certification
- C.O.A.P. (Care of the Aggressive Patient)
- M.O.A.B. (Management of Aggressive Behavior)
- All assigned Steward University trainings
- Additional job-related training as set forth by the Security Director
Job Responsibilities
- Patrol all properties on foot and by vehicle, maintaining a visible presence to ensure safety.
- Investigate and document incidents and accidents; complete shift activity reports.
- Monitor visitor conduct; address unauthorized persons.
- Conduct fire drills and document events.
- Act as liaison with law enforcement, fire departments, and outside agencies.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain security systems.
- Patrol hospital parking areas; issue warnings, violations, and tow notices as per regulations.
- Assist with transporting deceased to the Morgue; document patient and valuables information.
- Respond to assistance requests from staff, including restraining patients and standby procedures.
- Report maintenance needs and secure patient valuables and belongings.
- Ensure compliance with the Medical Center ID program.
- Manage door lock/unlock procedures.
- Lead security activities in the absence of supervisors, reporting activities to management.
