Job Details

Full-time, 40 hours/week, evening shift, five 8-hour shifts (3:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.), Sunday through Thursday. Weekends and holidays required as needed.

Job Summary

The Security Officer aims to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors at Boston Medical Center, protecting the hospital's buildings, properties, and premises.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in security, healthcare, or related fields.

Minimum Skills/Abilities:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to make quick, accurate decisions under pressure.
• Experience dealing with the public in stressful situations.

Certification/Licensure:

• Valid Driver’s License required.

Must obtain and maintain required training such as Basic Life Support, COAP, MOAB, and other job-related trainings as directed by the Security Director.

Job Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital premises on foot and vehicle, maintaining a visible presence.
• Investigate and document incidents and accidents.
• Monitor visitor conduct and address unauthorized persons.
• Conduct fire drills and document events.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, fire departments, and outside agencies.
• Inspect and troubleshoot security systems.
• Patrol parking areas, issue violations, and tow notices.
• Assist in transporting deceased, document patient valuables, and manage lost and found items.
• Respond to staff assistance requests, including patient restraint and standby procedures.
• Report maintenance needs and ensure compliance with ID policies.
• Perform door lock/unlock duties.
• Act as Lead Officer in the absence of supervisors, overseeing daily activities and reporting to management.
