Job summary

Athens State University seeks a Security Officer - Pool to provide courteous aid and campus security on the Athens, AL campus. This part-time, temporary role reports to the Chief of Security and supports visitors, students, and staff.

Responsibilities include assisting with wayfinding, safeguarding facilities, securing buildings, conducting checks, and enforcing parking regulations while upholding campus rules.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• State Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission Certification is required.
• Firearms certification is required.
• Law enforcement related experience is preferred.
• Valid Alabama Driver’s license is required.

Position Summary Information

TheAthens State University Security Officer will report to the Chief of Security for providing security for the university. The officer shall provide courteous aid to visitors and students.

• Assist students, faculty, staff and visitors in locating buildings and other general information
• Safeguard equipment and buildings
• Lock buildings, secure windows, turn off unnecessary lights
• Make visual and physical checks of buildings, parking lots and grounds at intervals by vehicle and on foot
• Inspect areas of safety hazards
• Be knowledgeable of campus rules and regulations
• Maintain traffic and parking enforcement

Located in historic Athens, Alabama, Athens State University offers junior and senior-level coursework to community college graduates and transfer students holding sufficient credits from other institutions.
