Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Security Officer to protect Pennsylvania Hospital property, respond to emergencies, and provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff. The role involves patrols, access control, and incident reporting within a leading academic medical center.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, 0-1 years in security, and Act 235 and BLS certifications within six months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years of relevant security experience or related college education.
• Certification under Pennsylvania Act 235 within six months of employment.
• BLS certification required within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital premises for security, safety, and fire protection purposes.
• Staff designated security posts to provide protection, access control, and assistance.
• Provide protective escorts for individuals and hospital property as needed.
• Conduct fire protection and safety inspections.
• Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and fire alarms with appropriate action.
• Conduct preliminary investigations of alleged criminal activity on hospital property.
• Identify, remove, or apprehend unauthorized or suspicious individuals.
• Complete daily operational and incident reports.
• Maintain confidentiality of information obtained in the course of work.
• Interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Demonstrate Penn Medicine values in daily conduct.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years of relevant experience - Previous experience in law enforcement, security, and/or college education in criminal justice field.
• Pennsylvania State Act 235 Certification required within six months of employment.
• BLS Certification required within six months of employment.
