Job summary

Allied Universal® is seeking a Part Time Unarmed Security Officer in Birmingham, AL. You will perform bicycle patrols at retail locations, provide exceptional customer service, and deter security incidents while helping create a welcoming environment for shoppers and tenants.

The role offers flexible weekend scheduling and opportunities to grow through our Shift-a-Shift platform. A high school diploma and bike-riding ability are required; background checks and a drug screen apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to shoppers, tenants, visitors, and store personnel by following security procedures and location policies.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies calmly, escalating as needed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed bicycle patrols in retail areas and entrances to deter incidents.
• Monitor access points, observe activity, and report suspicious conditions to site leadership and management.
• Prepare accurate reports and maintain clear communication with site leadership and authorities.

As an Unarmed Security Officer at a retail location, you will conduct highly visible bicycle patrols to help deter incidents, observe and report security-related concerns, and support a welcoming environment for visitors and tenants. You will provide outstanding customer service, communicate professionally, and work with a team that reflects Allied Universal's agile, reliable, innovative, caring, and integrity-driven values.

Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $17.00 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Sat: 12:00 PM - 08:00 PM
• Sun: 12:00 PM - 08:00 PM

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to shoppers, tenants, visitors, and store personnel by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, customer concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, escalating matters according to established procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout retail common areas, parking areas, entrances, exterior perimeter, and other assigned locations to help identify unusual activity and help deter unwanted behavior.
• Monitor access points, observe activity throughout the location, and report suspicious conditions, policy violations, maintenance concerns, and security-related incidents to the appropriate personnel.
• Prepare accurate reports and maintain clear communication with site leadership, law enforcement, emergency responders, and Allied Universal management as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be able to ride a bike.
• Ability to ride a bike for long periods of time is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
