Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer (Part Time – Unarmed) in Columbia, SC. You will serve and safeguard clients across various industries, maintain access control, monitor entry points, and respond to alarms while delivering excellent customer service. Position Type: Part Time.

Pay Rate: $17.00 / Hour. Schedule includes Sat and Sun nights. Applicants must pass background checks and drug screening, and a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, employees, contractors, and visitors while carrying out site-specific security procedures and emergency responses.
• Monitor access points and verify credentials and visitor authorizations.
• Control access for deliveries, contractors, and authorized personnel per site requirements.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and access-control concerns in a calm, problem-solving manner and communicate observations.
• Conduct regular patrols of access points, business areas, and the perimeter to deter unauthorized activity.

You will maintain a visible presence, conduct routine patrols, help deter incidents, and deliver outstanding customer service. Sat07:00 PM – 07:00 AM

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients, employees, contractors, and visitors while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, access-control policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.

• Monitor access points at a chemical and petrochemical location, verify credentials and visitor authorizations, and maintain accurate entry and exit records.

• Control access for deliveries, contractors, and authorized personnel in accordance with site requirements, including directing visitors to designated check-in areas.

• Respond to incidents, alarms, access-control concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, promptly communicating observations through established channels.

• Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, business areas, and the perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity; working environments and conditions may vary by client site.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least one year of security-related experience is required.

• Customer service experience is preferred.

• Comfortably using a computer or tablet is preferred.

• Experience with alarm panels is preferred.

• Experience with access control and badge systems is preferred.

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.

• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.

• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
