Job summary

Allied Universal, the leading security and facility services company, seeks a Part-Time Security Officer for a government maritime location in Portsmouth, VA. You will conduct routine patrolling, monitor access, and provide excellent customer service while reporting incidents and maintaining security protocols.

Schedule is part-time with evening/night shifts. A TSA-issued TWIC is required; a guard card is preferred, and a background check will be conducted in accordance with federal and state

Qualifications

• Possess a TSA-issued TWIC.
• A guard card/license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of port facilities, access points, parking areas, waterfront-adjacent areas, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to designated areas, verify credentials as required, and report suspicious activity or policy violations.
• Prepare clear, accurate activity and incident reports while maintaining professional communication with employees, visitors, contractors, and public-service personnel.

What You'll Do

• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and notification procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of port facilities, access points, parking areas, waterfront-adjacent areas, and perimeter locations to help to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access to designated areas, verify credentials as required, and report suspicious activity, hazards, or policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear, accurate activity and incident reports while maintaining professional communication with employees, visitors, contractors, and public-service personnel.
