Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer Part Time Store Patrol in Gaithersburg, MD to provide reliable security services at a retail site with flexible hours and a fixed shift base.

The role allows earning more by picking up extra shifts via our scheduling platform, with potential to scale to a fuller schedule. Strong customer service and security fundamentals are a must.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Guard Card or license preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, customers, and associates by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, customer concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, reporting observations through established procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the retail location, including sales areas, entrances, exits, receiving areas, parking areas, and the perimeter.
• Monitor access points and observe activity to help deter unauthorized entry, theft-related activity, and other policy violations.
• Maintain a professional presence while assisting with traffic flow, customer inquiries, and communication with store personnel and first responders as needed.

Pay Rate

$20.00 / Hour

Job Schedule

• Sat: 07:00 AM - 01:30 PM
• Sun: 08:00 AM - 01:30 PM

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.
