As a Security Officer Part Time Shopping Mall in Wheaton, MD, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $18.75 / Hour

Job Schedule:

DayTimeWed03:00 PM - 11:00 PMThur03:00 PM - 11:00 PM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to visitors, tenants, and/or employees by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a retail shopping center.
• Respond to incidents, customer concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, escalating matters in accordance with site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout interior common areas, exterior grounds, parking areas, and the property perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security‑related concerns.
• Monitor access points, observe activity within the location, and report suspicious behavior, hazards, and/or maintenance concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Document patrols, incidents, and daily activities accurately while maintaining a professional presence and supporting a welcoming environment for shoppers and tenants.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least one year of security‑related experience is required.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• A state, county, or city‑issued security‑related license is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
