Job summary

Allied Universal in New York, NY is seeking a Part Time Security Officer to maintain a visible presence, deter incidents, and deliver excellent customer service to students, staff, and campus guests.

You will conduct unarmed patrols of campus buildings and perimeter areas, respond to alarms and incidents, monitor access points, and document activities in clear reports, while following site procedures and company standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check and drug screen required by policy.
• Valid driver's license only for driving positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus guests.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, residence areas, academic spaces, walkways, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter locations.

You will conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, respond to security-related concerns, and provide exceptional customer service and communication to students, staff, and visitors. Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $20.40 - $21.40 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Sat: 04:00 PM - 12:00 AM
• Sun: 04:00 PM - 12:00 AM

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus guests while carrying out site‑specific security‑related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, residence areas, academic spaces, walkways, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter locations.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, suspicious activity, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, assist with directions and campus information, and report observed hazards, maintenance concerns, or policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear and accurate incident reports, patrol logs, and daily activity documentation in accordance with Allied Universal and site‑specific requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
