Job summary

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer in Chicago, IL to patrol campuses, deter security incidents, and provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

You will perform unarmed patrols, monitor for suspicious activity, assist with access control, and respond to incidents in alignment with campus protocols and Allied Universal standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check and drug screen required by Allied Universal.
• Licensing requirements depend on location and role.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following campus protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of academic buildings, common areas, entrances, parking areas, and the surrounding perimeter; environments may vary by location.
• Monitor for unauthorized activity, suspicious behavior, hazards, and facility concerns, helping deter disruptions and reporting observations according to site procedures.
• Assist with access control, visitor directions, and routine campus inquiries while maintaining professional communication and detailed activity documentation.

Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $19.75 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Tue: 03:00 PM - 10:00 PM
• Wed: 03:00 PM - 10:00 PM

What You'll Do:

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
