Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part Time Unarmed Security Officer in Paramus, NJ. You will perform routine patrols, deter incidents, assist with access control, and provide exceptional customer service to visitors and tenants at a retail-location setting.

This position offers flexible daytime shifts, the ability to claim additional shifts through our platform, and pays $21.00 per hour for daytime hours. Minimum requirements include security experience and a high school diploma; CPR is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Age 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check and drug screen required by policy.
• Licensing requirements may apply by state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, shoppers, tenants, and visitors while carrying out security-related procedures, site policies, and emergency responses as needed.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols throughout the property, common areas, parking, and perimeter to identify hazards and report incidents.
• Respond to incidents calmly and professionally, following site procedures and contacting relevant personnel or emergency services.
• Assist with access control, visitor directions, and addressing customer concerns while maintaining a professional presence.
• Prepare clear activity, incident, and daily shift reports according to company and site requirements.

What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients, shoppers, tenants, and visitors while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.


• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the retail property, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter to help identify and report unusual activity or hazards.


• Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following site procedures and contacting appropriate personnel and/or emergency services as needed.


• Assist with access control, visitor direction, and response to customer concerns while maintaining a professional presence throughout the location.


• Prepare clear and accurate activity, incident, and daily shift reports in accordance with Allied Universal and site-specific requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.


• CPR certification is preferred.


• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.


• Access control and badge experience is preferred.


• A guard card or license is preferred.


• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.


• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.


• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.


• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
