Allied Universal is hiring a part-time Security Officer for an Access Control role in Suffolk, VA. You will help manage entry points, verify credentials, issue badges, and maintain access records while delivering welcoming customer service and maintaining a secure environment.

Schedule is primarily weekend shifts (Sat-Sun 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) with a pay rate of $15.60 per hour. The position emphasizes teamwork, integrity, and a flexible, supportive workplace culture at Allied Universal.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of security-related experience preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Must be 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Background check and drug screen required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service while enforcing site-specific policies and access-control protocols.
• Verify credentials, screen visitors, maintain logs, and direct authorized personnel and deliveries.
• Respond calmly to incidents and escalate according to procedures.
• Conduct patrols of entry points, loading areas, and perimeters to deter unauthorized access.
• Maintain accurate records of access activity and shift communications.

Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $15.60 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Sat 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM
• Sun 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, access-control protocols, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor and control access to the food and beverage distribution location by verifying credentials, screening visitors, maintaining visitor logs, and directing authorized personnel and deliveries.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of entry points, loading areas, parking areas, and the business perimeter to help deter unauthorized access and report unusual activity.
• Maintain clear, accurate records of access activity, incidents, and shift communications in accordance with site requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Possess at least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
