Job summary

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Part Time Security Officer in Durham, NC to help protect cast, crew and guests at Disney properties and events. You will greet visitors, screen IDs, patrol perimeters and assist at live shows and premieres.

The role requires at least 1 year of corporate security or related experience, fluent English, strong communication, and the ability to stay professional under pressure. The pay ranges from $23,280 to $31,140 per year with benefits.

• Evaluate and screen the audience line at live TV shows.
• Be a security presence at movie premiers, live performances, events, or private parties.
• Patrol hallways and building perimeters to spot safety issues.
• Fill out the logbook precisely and completely.
• Answer questions from visitors and employees in a professional way.
• Use training to diffuse tense situations and respond to incidents.
• Assist with first responders during medical or fire incidents.
• Control messenger flow and package delivery.
• Utilize technology to report incidents and manage information flow.
• Perform walk-through evaluation at off-site events.

Job Responsibilities

• Greet visitors, check company IDs, and provide temporary IDs at building entrances
• Evaluate and screen the audience line at live TV shows
• Be a security presence at movie premiers, live performances, events, or private parties
• Patrol hallways and building perimeters to spot safety issues or irregularities
• Fill out the logbook precisely and completely
• Answer questions asked by visitors and employees in a friendly, professional way
• Use your know-how and training to diffuse a tense situation
• Respond to medical or fire incidents, and work directly with local first responders
• Assist private security details brought by celebrities, sports stars, politicians and visiting dignitaries – even the President has been known to stop by
• Control messenger flow and package delivery
• Utilize technology to report and document incidents and manage information flow
• Perform walk-through evaluation at off-site events

Required Qualifications

• 1 year of corporate security, law enforcement or military experience
• Excellent communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English, and strong command of basic English grammar
• Ability to make quick decisions using your training and common sense
• The knack for talking to people in a friendly way that gets results
• A “team” orientation and willingness to collaborate
• Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job and be outside in all weather; and Flexible workdays/hours (this is a “shift work” role) and ability to work some overtime

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Security Guard license issued by your state
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working under pressure
• Ability to take command and diplomatically control difficult situations

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree or higher preferred
