Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer in Charleston, SC to guard guests and sites, manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor activity, and provide professional customer service at a logistics location.

You will join a team with flexible scheduling via our Claim a Shift platform, performing access control duties, patrols, incident response, and collaboration with site contacts and emergency responders as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet preferred.
• Site has limited on-site facilities (portable toilets, rustic guard shacks).
• Access control and badge experience preferred.
• Must be at least 18 for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check required by law; drug screen may be required.
• Licensing requirements may apply.
• Driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service while carrying out security procedures and site policies.
• Monitor access points and verify authorization; maintain visitor/vehicle records.
• Respond to incidents calmly and communicate with site contacts and responders.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of facility, loading areas, parking, and perimeter.
• Observe and report security conditions and policy violations.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
• Monitor access points for employees, visitors, drivers, and vendors; verify authorization and maintain accurate visitor and vehicle entry records.
• Respond to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; communicate with site contacts and emergency responders as needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of the facility, loading areas, parking areas, business perimeter, and other designated locations to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Observe and report security-related conditions, policy violations, damaged access controls, and unusual activity according to site procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• At this site there are limited on-site facilities such as portable toilets and rustic guard shacks.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
