Description:
The Security Officer is responsible for the day-to-day security and protection of the museum facilities, exhibits, staff, and visitors. The position requires walking and standing for long periods of time while patrolling the museum's restricted and public areas, surveying the galleries, museum entrance and exit areas, and providing security escorts when needed. Third Shift Officers patrol the grounds and monitor security systems at both the Honolulu Museum of Art and Art School. Third shift works from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Five shifts per week, though overtime or emergency coverage may be required.
The Honolulu Museum of Art is committed to practicing salary transparency. The starting wage for this position is $21.50 per hour. This is a general guideline. Must have the ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, as well as effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to visitors and employees. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk in dark and dimly lit conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit and perform administrative and security tasks with manual dexterity. Must be able to observe cameras for long periods.
