Job summary

The Rose Gaming Resort is seeking an Overnight Security Officer to ensure the safety of guests and staff at the Dumfries location. You will patrol the casino/hotel, monitor for rule violations, and maintain a professional presence across shifts.

Responsibilities include incident documentation, crowd control, and responding to emergencies while upholding all casino policies and Virginia regulations. A valid driver’s license and security licensing requirements apply.

Qualifications

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
  • Obtain and retain required license(s).
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department.
  • Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gaming.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.

  • Provide courteous customer service to guests as needed.
  • Assist with money and chip transfers on the casino floor.
  • Patrol the casino/hotel during shifts to maintain safety.
  • Follow casino rules and VA Gaming Commission regulations.
  • Stand post for extended periods as assigned.
  • Report responsibilities and daily activities to supervisor.
  • Control access to restricted areas and respond to back-up calls.
  • Drive a company vehicle if required.
  • Prepare reports of significant activities.
  • Maintain radio contact with base during shift.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings.
  • Check IDs for admittance to gaming areas.
  • Maintain crowd control and manage guest behavior.
  • Conduct cash escorts as needed.
  • Investigate incidents and write reports; observe and report violations.
  • May act in place of Security Lead as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Rose Gaming Resort is a $480 million gaming and entertainment complex destination, located alongside I-95 in Dumfries, Virginia. Along with exciting gaming action, The Rose Gaming Resort provides a luxury hotel, eight bars and restaurants, a space for meetings and events, 50,000+ square foot gaming space and over 1,650 Historical Horse Racing machines, and over 80 acres of green space. The Rose Gaming Resort generates an estimated $35.5 million in annual tax revenues and employs more than 500 team members.

Job Summary

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our casino property and its patrons. Your duties will include responding to security incidents and providing a visible security presence in the casino. You will also observe patrons participating in gambling activities to detect and respond to infractions of house rules. You will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, customer service, and integrity while representing the casino in all interactions with guests. We are looking for someone who is attentive, reliable, and capable of making sound judgment in difficult situations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Practices, supports, and maintains the Mission, Vision, and Values of The Rose Gaming Resort.
  • Responsible for the safety of all guests and employees of the casino/hotel.
  • Records investigation and incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Provides customer service to all guests when needed.
  • Assists with the transfer of money and chips from casino floor.
  • Patrols casino/hotel during shift to ensure safety.
  • Maintains casino rules, policies and regulations are being followed set by the casino and the VA Gaming Commission.
  • Stands post for extended times as assigned by manager.
  • Reports to supervisor/manager on responsibilities on day-to-day activities.
  • Controls and diffuses potential problems and assists employees and guests in emergencies.
  • Controls access to the video lottery facility and restricted areas.
  • Responds to back-up calls immediately.
  • Will be required to drive a company vehicle, must have good.
  • Prepares reports of significant activities.
  • Always maintains radio contact with base during assigned shift.
  • Attends periodic meetings and training sessions. Check identification for gaming floor admittance, greeting guests and vendors positively and professionally.
  • Maintain crowd control, ensuring a friendly environment and defusing guest profanity.
  • Conduct cash escorts as required.
  • Investigate incidents and compose written reports, as well as observing, handling, and reporting procedural violations and illegal activity.
  • May act in place of Security Lead as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills And Abilities

Education And Experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Experience within law enforcement, military, security, or customer service to equal one year, or pursuing a degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, related field, or in pursuit of one of these degrees.
  • Successful completion of an in-house training program.
  • Ability to communicate and comprehend information and ideas in spoken and written English so others will understand.
  • Ability to accept, prioritize and follow through on work direction.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations, utilizing rational thinking and decision making.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required with a good driving record.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexibility to work including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • The ability to lift, push and pull up to 50-100 pounds.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Virginia Racing Commission License Valid Driver’s License with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.
