Dartmouth Health in Lebanon, NH is seeking a Night Shift Security Officer to safeguard patients, visitors, staff and hospital property. The role focuses on patrols, incident response and maintaining safety across all hospital areas.

Responsibilities

• Patrols all areas of the assigned facility looking for illegal/inappropriate activity and safety concerns; provides information and guidance to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Conducts rounds to ensure safety of the facility, property and occupants.
• Responds to and investigates security incidents; documents activities and incidents.
• Assists with uncooperative or violent individuals; de-escalates situations using AVADE techniques.
• Provides patient watch to prevent elopement or injury.
• Applies restraints as directed and contacts local law enforcement when warranted.
• Handles custody disputes and domestic disturbances on campus.
• Performs searches of patients, visitors, rooms and belongings as required.
• Responds to emergencies and code calls; performs CPR and uses AEDs; notifies fire department for medical incidents outside.
• Monitors parking lots; issues tickets and addresses safety hazards; assists with vehicle services.
• Enforces company policies per supervisor directions.
• Assists with parking space management and barricade adjustments for events.
• Supports DHART helicopter arrivals/departures; handles deceased patient processes.
• Completes required forms, reports and documents.
• Performs assigned secondary duties and multitasks as needed.
• Responds to duress alarms and other emergencies; performs related duties as assigned.

Overview

Schedule: Wednesday-Sunday, 11pm-7am

Responsible for the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, staff, facilities and hospital property

Responsibilities

1. Patrols all areas of their assigned facility looking for illegal/inappropriate activity and security/safety concerns. Proactively provides information, assistance and guidance to patients, visitors, and staff.
2. Conducts internal and external rounds/patrols to ensure the safety and security of the facility, property, and occupants.
3. Responds to, and investigates security incidents. Ensures all incidents and activities are appropriately documented and recorded.
4. Assists nursing units, clinical care areas, and other departments with uncooperative, combative or violent patients and visitors. Effectively de-escalates situations and uses the appropriate AVADE techniques.
5. Provides patient watch activities to prevent elopement or injury to self/others.
6. At the direction of the medical staff, applies restraints. Contacts local law enforcement as situation warrants.
7. Deals with custody disputes and/or domestic disturbances occurring on campus.
8. Conducts patient and visitor searches when required and conducts room and belonging searching as needed.
9. Responds to emergencies and code calls. Performs CPR, to include the use of AED’s. For medical incidents outside the building, contacts the local fire department for ambulance response.
10. Monitors all parking lots for compliance with facility parking regulations. Tickets unauthorized parked cars. Observe and follow up on safety hazards in parking areas. Provide vehicle assistance services.
11. Enforces company policies as directed by a supervisor.
12. Assists with parking space and utilization. Rearranges parking barricades to meet organizational needs and special events. Assists parking officers with parking control and assistance.
13. Assists DHART with helicopter arrivals and departures. Releases deceased patients and accepts incoming deceased patients.
14. Completes all required/requested forms, reports and documents.
15. Completes assigned secondary duties
16. Responds to duress alarms, calls for service, and other emergency situations.
17. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• Two years of related experience preferred.
• Direct security experience highly preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required in accordance with D-H’s Driver Disqualifications Guidelines.
• Must maintain Taser, Handcuff, and Pepper Gel certification.
• Must complete all required training and pass minimal physical requirements within 90 days from date of hire and as required thereafter.
• Must obtain IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification within 6 months of hire.
