University of Nottingham is seeking a permanent, full-time Security Officer to cover University Park. You will patrol grounds, respond to incidents, operate CCTV, and produce detailed written reports in line with security regulations.
Candidates should have substantial customer-facing security experience, possess a UK Category B driving licence (manual) and, where required, SIA licensing in relevant areas. Salary £26,908–£28,890 with shift allowance.

Working across all University sites, main duties for the role will include; patrolling University grounds and properties using University vehicles and on foot, responding to incidents and alarms and implementing crime prevention measures in consultation with the Security management team. You will be required to work in the Security control room operating CCTV equipment, provide detailed, accurate written reports and carry out duties in accordance with the Universities traffic control regulations to control car parking and traffic flow.
Candidates should have substantial experience of working in a similar customer facing role, have the ability to record and analyse information and be able to produce accurate written reports. Candidates should also have excellent communication skills and have the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Due to the frequency with which candidates will be required to drive between university sites a full UK Category B driving licence with no automatic-only restriction (code 78) is essential for this post. Candidates must be able to drive manual cars and small vans. Experience of working in a similar security role is desirable.
This is a permanent, full-time post (36.25 per week), made up of rotational shifts (12 hour shifts through a 24 hour period) flexibility to work any shift is required. Please note that the salary advertised is based on a basic salary of £26,908 - £28,890 per annum, PLUS shift allowance of £5,947 which is subject to change. Shift allowance is only applied to specific roles within the University and therefore will not be carried forward to any additional roles undertaken at the University where this allowance does not apply. It is a condition of this post that the holder completes or holds Security Industry Authority licensing in the licensable areas of Door Supervision and Public space surveillance (CCTV). The University will pay for the training and licensing.
