SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, Security Officer Level I is a uniform, unarmed position responsible for providing security services to a specific location/site. This position requires exceptional customer relations skills. Security Officer Level I must deliver critical safety and security services in a business-oriented, courteous, customer service, and professional manner. Security Officers are involved with the law enforcement laws, rules, and regulations under the Santa Clara Development Corporation, Federal, and Tribal government codes, securing an assigned area, conducting investigations, collecting evidence, and preparing timely and accurate reports. Duties also involve crime prevention, investigating crimes, responding to emergencies, performing as an initial incident Officer, testifying in court proceedings, and protection of life. Security Officer Level I may be assigned to various special assignments and different locations/sites. The Security Officer Level I also collaborates, initiates, and supports opportunities with other functions by championing the goals and priorities of the Santa Clara Development Corporation in a manner that faithfully reflects and upholds the Santa Clara Development Corporation mission, vision, and values.

SCDC CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS
  • Any Kha’P’o Security Services personnel operating under a contract with Santa Clara Development Corporation (SCDC) is required to follow the job description set forth and outlined below by SCDC. The SCDC Human Resources is responsible for ensuring that all contracted employees understand their duties and responsibilities at this location. Each Security Officer, whether employed directly by SCDC or through a contracted company must review this job description, sign it, and submit it to Human Resources prior to performing duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides critical safety and security services by patrolling assigned areas to observe the grounds and facilities of the organization in a manner consistent with guidelines and applicable laws, policies, and procedures to deter criminal activity. Secures key entry and exit points across the enterprise at designated stationary post assignments.
  • Ensures establishment and its surrounding premises are always protected by providing security services to all its employees, guests, assets, facilities, and operations.
  • Responds to various emergency calls for service such as fires, injuries, accidents, robberies, intrusion alarms, bomb, and other threats. Security Officer initiate immediate action to control the threat, provide first responder aid or render appropriate assistance and document all relevant activities. Directs and controls pedestrian/vehicle movement and ensures that walkways, entrances/exits and fire lanes are clear. Directs employees and guests to safe areas during incidents.
  • Uses multiple communications systems to coordinate emergency calls and relay information and assistance requests involving law enforcement, fire, and emergency service agencies.
  • Receives, screens, enters, dispatches, and monitors high volume of emergency and non-emergency calls. Tracks the availability status of all security units, maintains regular contact with all units on emergency and non-emergency assignment, maintains and tracks current location of security units, accurately maintain, and update daily computerized log.
  • Monitors emergency alarm systems, analyzes recorded and live surveillance video of non-gaming activities to detect any suspicious activity which may pose a risk to employees, vendors, and guests. Accurately reads, interprets, inputs and relays information obtained from employees, customers, and law enforcement personnel into the computerized software.
  • Determines the number of public safety units, and which units, to dispatch by considering such factors as time of day, description, and location of calls, and units available.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and enhances location/sites safety and operations.
  • Maintains care and control of authorized equipment, issued uniforms, and departmental approved equipment.
  • Become familiar with hazardous materials used on property, and all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Supports and reinforces enterprise standards and procedures designed to provide a best-in-class guest experience.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operations of the department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED is not required but preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to produce well-written documents with regards to spelling, grammar, punctuation, organization, and content as evidenced by a written assignment or test during the hiring process.
  • Must have strong computer skills and ability to utilize Microsoft applications.
  • Must always maintain good attendance record.
  • Must successfully participate in mandated in-house training.
  • Based on business operations, the candidate may be assigned to work overtime when needed. The schedule, including hours and days off, is subject to change based on business needs.
