The Security Officer (Armed) will conduct the day-to-day activities to ensure a secure campus.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma; valid driver's license; must pass a psychological evaluation according to state requirements; must successfully pass a background check; must be 21 years old or older to be an armed guard.

Preferred Qualifications

• Law enforcement and/or security training.

Job Duties

• Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large.
• Must be able to fire a weapon accurately.
• Must be able to defend himself/herself and others with and without the use of deadly force.
• Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students.
• Participate on University committees in the absence of the chief; maintain knowledge and compliance with faculty/staff policy manual, Security SOP, student handbook, and other policy manuals.
• Conduct regular security rounds of all property.
• Maintain security of all keys and key access.
• Sufficiently complete new employee training.
• Research and report crime and incidents.
• Address policy violations when observed.
• Report all maintenance and grounds issues through daily activity reporting.
• Conduct traffic safety, issue traffic and parking citations.
• Must have the ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations and to determine the proper course of action.
• Maintain Emergency Response certification.
• Complete daily activity reports, incident reports, consult and understand pass-on book information since the individual’s last shift.
• Maintain officer code of conduct in accordance with Faculty/Staff Policy Manual expectations.
• Completion of required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University programs, both on campus and at the extended sites.
• Maintain and display a high degree of professionalism in appearance and in the performance of all regular duties.
• Must exert themselves physically for short periods of time, such as running and lifting.
• Maintain yearly Security recertification through the State.
