Responsibilities
  • Patrol, protect, and secure all Harris Health System's facilities and grounds.
  • Respond to crisis activations, prevent patient elopements, and assist medical staff with patient restraints as needed.
  • Serve as Mileu Officer in designated hospital areas, maintaining high awareness to react promptly to emergencies and detect suspicious activities.
  • Physically intervene in medical and behavioral emergencies, with exposure to potential assaultive behavior.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • TCOLE Basic Peace Officer Certification or TPSB Level III Certification at hire.
  • CPR training within six months of employment.
  • IAHSS Basic Security Officer Training within six months.
  • Aggression Management within six months.
  • Registration with Texas Private Security Bureau within 90 days of employment.

Preferred: TPSB Level IV Certification.

Work Experience
  • At least 3 years in security, criminal justice, military, or healthcare.
  • 5 years healthcare security or behavioral health experience preferred.
Skills and Proficiencies
  • Above-average verbal communication and report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in PC typing (20-29 wpm) and MS Word.
Work Schedule & Other Requirements
  • Availability for weekends, holidays, overtime, and disaster situations.
  • Effective communication in English, computer proficiency, and supervision in the absence of the security supervisor.
