Job Summary:

Responsible for patrolling, protecting, and securing all Harris Health System's buildings and grounds, promoting safety and security at all locations. Responds to crisis intervention team activations, prevents patient elopements, and assists medical staff with patient restraints as needed.

Serves as the assigned Milieu Officer in designated hospital areas. Requires a high level of awareness to react promptly to emergencies and visual acuity to detect suspicious activities. Must be capable of physically intervening in medical and behavioral emergencies, with exposure to potential physical injury from assaultive patients.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• License & Certifications: Valid Texas Driver's License; TCOLE Basic Peace Officer Certification or TPSB Level III Certification at hire; CPR training within six months; IAHSS Basic Security Officer Training; Aggression Management within six months; registration with the Texas Private Security Bureau within 90 days; TPSB Level IV Certification preferred.
• Work Experience: At least 3 years in security, criminal justice, military, or healthcare; 5 years healthcare security or behavioral health preferred.
• Communication Skills: Above average verbal communication, report writing.
• Proficiencies: PC typing (20-29 wpm), MS Word.
• Work Schedule: Includes weekends, holidays, flexible hours, and overtime.
• Other Requirements: E-1 availability during disasters; effective English communication skills; computer proficiency; supervision of shift activities in the absence of the security supervisor.
