Overview: The Durst Organization is seeking (9) Security Officer II - at our Midtown Security Command Center.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to a Senior Security Manager, the Security Officer II - Command Center Operator is responsible for monitoring and operating the property’s security and life-safety systems from the Command Center. The position serves as a central point of communication during routine operations, emergencies, and security incidents and is responsible for promptly identifying, documenting, and communicating alarms, incidents, and other conditions requiring attention.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor CCTV, access control, fire/life-safety, intrusion, intercom, and other security systems.
  • Manage security and life-safety alarms in accordance with established procedures
  • Dispatch Security Officers, building personnel, emergency responders, and other appropriate resources, as needed or directed by executive staff.
  • Monitor building conditions and security activity and promptly elevate unusual or emergency situations to the Command Center Supervisor and appropriate management personnel.
  • Maintain continuous communication with field personnel and provide operational support during incidents and emergencies.
  • Monitor and control access to designated areas through security and access-control systems.
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and incident reports documenting significant events, alarms, and responses.
  • Review and preserve surveillance footage and other security information as directed.
  • Operate Command Center equipment and systems in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist with emergency response, evacuation, and other life-safety procedures within the portfolio.
  • Conduct routine system checks and report equipment malfunctions or deficiencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of security systems, building information, surveillance footage, and other sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Command Center Supervisor or executive staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior security, command center, dispatch, or emergency operations experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, observation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during emergencies.
  • Proficiency with computer-based security, surveillance, access control and life-safety systems.
  • Ability to accurately document incidents and communicate information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be available to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers including but not limited to:
    • Current New York State Security Guard License required
    • Current AED/CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Working knowledge of camera surveillance access control and building systems
  • Must have a technical aptitude and willingness to learn how to perform security x-ray and screening procedure and use required equipment
  • Must be able to read, comprehend and comply with regulations, correspondence as well as complete forms and reports as required;
  • Should have prior knowledge of or willing to learn security related software applications
  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications or authorizations specified for the assigned account.
  • Possess good oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong customer service and service delivery orientation.
  • Ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to take initiative and achieve results.
  • Ability to carry out multiple assignments concurrently.
