Job description

Overview

Provides security to the facility, employees, equipment, supplies, and drugs. Controls traffic around, inside, and outside of the facility, prioritizing the safety and welfare of patients and employees.

Responsibilities

1. Makes regular tours of the facility and parking lots to detect safety and fire hazards, theft risks, and suspicious persons.
2. Locks and unlocks doors as required.
3. Assists in fire drills and responds to emergencies.
4. Handles unruly patients/residents or other individuals.
5. Escorts off-shift employees to their cars.
6. Delivers bodies to the morgue.
7. Maintains daily ODR reports.
8. Logs and reports all unusual incidents.
9. Knows fire and emergency procedures.
10. Operates fire alarm systems and firefighting equipment skillfully.
11. Performs valet and courier duties when needed.
12. Checks in visitors using the visitor control system.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must complete assigned education by Crisis Prevention Institute.

Work Experience: Prior security experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid NJ driver’s license, Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification (must be obtained within 3 months of hire, renewed every 2 years). Must complete education provided by Crisis Prevention Institute.

Knowledge and Skills: Exceptional customer service skills. For visitor control: basic computer knowledge, mindfulness of surroundings, and skills in dealing with visitors/contractors reluctant to comply with control requirements.
