Qualifications

Job description

Overview

Provides security to the facility, employees, equipment, supplies, and drugs. Controls traffic around, inside, and outside of the facility with the primary goal of ensuring the welfare and safety of patients and employees.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts regular tours of the facility and parking lots to detect safety and fire hazards, theft risks, and suspicious persons.
  • Locks and unlocks doors as necessary.
  • Assists in fire drills and responds to actual emergencies.
  • Handles unruly patients/residents or other individuals.
  • Escorts off-shift employees to their vehicles.
  • Delivers bodies to the morgue.
  • Maintains the daily ODR report.
  • Documents and reports all unusual incidents in writing.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of fire and emergency procedures.
  • Operates fire alarm systems and firefighting equipment skillfully.
  • Performs valet and courier duties as needed.
  • Checks in visitors (patients' family members, vendors, etc.) using the visitor control system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Must complete assigned education by Crisis Prevention Institute.

Work Experience:

Prior security experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid NJ driver's license. Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required, with completion within 3 months of hire. Renewal certifications every 2 years.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Exceptional customer service skills. For visitor control responsibilities: basic computer knowledge, mindfulness of surroundings (suspicious packages, people, etc.), and skills in dealing with visitors/contractors reluctant to follow visitor control protocols.
