Job summary

Goodwill Industries of San Diego County in Escondido, California is seeking a graveyard/night shift security guard to patrol donation sites, monitor premises, and prevent theft. The role requires a California Guard Card, a valid driver’s license, and 6 months to 1 year of experience; the shift runs 11:00 pm–7:30 am, five days a week, with weekends possible.

• 6 months to 1 year experience preferred.
• Guard Card issued by California and valid driver’s license required.
• Proof of Insurance and driving record acceptable by Goodwill’s Insurance Company.
• Knowledge of MS Office, e-mail and internet preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrols attendant donation sites, industrial site and commercial premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensures security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Responds to alarm incidents and investigates disturbances.
• Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
• Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
• Circulates among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
• Answers telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed.
• Checks all vehicles and donation center doors, lift gates and roll-up doors to determine they are locked and secured.
• Notifies management immediately if any illegal activity is conducted during business hours.
• Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property to management immediately.
• Promotes safety in the workplace at all times. Enforces all safety rules and regulations.
• Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed.
• Collects all donations that have been donated after hours. Transports items to assigned hub location. Enters all recoveries on Safety and Asset Protection recovery log.
• Maintains and updates patrol log daily, uploads photos of items to the patrol log Data Base.
• Monitors DC areas for illegal dumping, once illegal dumping is detected the Transportation Department must be contacted for cleanup and or pickup.
• Cover graveyard shift at the Rosecrans location as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education

Experience

6 months to 1 year experience preferred.
