Job Title: Security Officer I

Entity: LGH

Location: Lancaster General Hospital - 555 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA 17602

Hours: 1.0 FTE (40 Hours/week), Day Shift

Summary:

  • Ensure safety for patients, staff, and visitors; investigate incidents; protect hospital property and premises.

Responsibilities:

  • Patrol assigned areas, monitor activity, and maintain a secure environment.
  • Participate in pre-shift and post-shift briefings to stay updated on security events.
  • Document daily activities and responses in logs.
  • Respond to security requests, investigate suspicious activity, de-escalate volatile situations, and follow directives from supervisory staff.
  • Investigate and document security incidents; report property abuses.
  • Respond to alarms and condition codes as required.
  • Conduct regular security audits during non-business hours.
  • Monitor hospital grounds, parking facilities, and traffic flow.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Complete IAHS Basic Certification within 1 year.
  • Valid State driver’s license.
  • Complete PPCI PATH, OCAT, and Defensive Tactics within 6 months.
  • Complete CPI Level 4 training within 6 months.
  • Basic CPR AED certification within 6 months.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations and work in a team.
  • Strong reading and communication skills.

Credentials:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute Certification (Required)
  • PPCI - PATH, OCAT, PPCD (Required)

Education or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED (Required)
