Job Title: Security Officer I

Entity: LGH

Location: Lancaster General Hospital - 555 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA 17602

Hours: 1.0 FTE (40 Hours per week), Day Shift

Summary:
  • Provides security for patients, employees, and visitors; initiates appropriate investigation and follows up. Protects hospital buildings, assets, and premises as assigned.
Responsibilities:
  • Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
  • Patrol assigned areas, monitoring the facility and activity to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Participate in pre-shift and post-shift briefings to stay current with recent security events and incidents.
  • Document daily activity and security responses during a shift through a thorough activity log.
  • Respond to security requests, investigate suspicious activity, de-escalate volatile situations, and take appropriate action as directed by supervisory personnel or hospital leadership.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve security-related incidents; report abuses of hospital property; maintain records and incident reports.
  • Respond to intra-facility alarms and Condition Codes as required.
  • Conduct regular security checks of LGH properties and grounds during non-business hours.
  • Monitor all hospital premises, grounds, parking facilities, and traffic flow for security concerns and safety hazards.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must complete the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Basic Certification Program within one year of employment.
  • Valid State driver’s license.
  • Complete PPCI PATH, OCAT, and Defensive Tactics within six months of employment.
  • Complete CPI Level 4 - Advanced Physical Skills training within six months of employment.
  • Basic CPR AED certification within six months of employment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing, including preparing reports and memoranda.
  • Clear communication skills, including pronunciation and emphasis.
