Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Hospital Security Officer for our healthcare client in Columbia, SC. This full-time position offers the Afternoon, Evening, and Overnight shifts with a starting base pay of $17.26 per hour.

You will monitor premises, deter threats, assist staff and visitors, and ensure a safe environment. Applicants should be 21+, have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Background check required by law.
• Drug screen required if permitted by law.
• Valid driver’s license with driving experience.
• Must complete Security Training to obtain Management of Aggressive Behavior certification.

Responsibilities

• Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity.
• Patrol on foot, bicycle, or via vehicle to check for unsafe conditions, security violations, and unauthorized individuals.
• Orally and physically de-escalate individuals when needed.
• Inspect all security devices and fire control equipment.
• Screen members, visitors, and staff to expedite admittance to the facility.
• Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, or severe weather with calm urgency.
• May provide patient escort or safety transport as required.

Responsibilities:

• Observe and remain vigilant for signs of crime, disorder, hazard, and unusual activity
• Patrol on foot, bicycle, or via a vehicle to check for unsafe conditions, blocked entryways, security violations, mechanical problems, and unauthorized individuals
• Orally and physically de-escalating individuals, as needed
• Inspect all security devices and fire control equipment
• Screen members, visitors, and client employees to expedite their admittance to the facility
• Respond to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, or inclement weather with calm urgency
• May also include patient escort, patient watch, provide safety escort, assist and/or transport deceased to morgue

Minimum Requirements:

• Prior work experience involving dealing with customers, troubleshooting, and/or managing stressful situations
• Be at least 21 years of age for role
• High school diploma or Verifiable High School Diploma or GED (Certificates of Completion not acceptable)
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License with at least one year of driving experience, a clean driving record (no major violations within last 36 months, no more than 1 accident in last 24 months, no more than one minor moving violation in last 24 months), a minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and the ability to safely operate a vehicle required.
• Post offer, must be able to successfully complete the training requirement and obtain a Management of Aggressive Behavior certification
