Security Officers can be hired into full-time and part-time positions supporting the following locations:

• Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA

• Sentara Port Warwick in Newport News, VA

• Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, VA

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Certification/Licensure: Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification by IAHSS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

• Experience: One year of security experience; military, law enforcement, or security officer experience preferred; de-escalation and physical intervention training completed within 180 days of hire.

Role Overview

The Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees at Sentara Hospitals and Emergency Departments. Responsibilities include patrolling campus, monitoring activity, responding to emergencies, performing camera surveillance, maintaining logs, documenting activities, conducting investigations, evaluating situations, and taking appropriate actions. To ensure safety, a Fit for Duty assessment is required, including a response walk, stair climb, drag to safety, and lift.
