Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer Government Service Building Control Access in Jamaica, NY. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, verify visitor authorization, and maintain a visible security presence to deter incidents.

This full-time position pays $18.87 per hour with a 9:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule. Candidates need at least 1 year of security-related experience, a high school diploma, and must pass background checks and drug screening as required.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and members of the public while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities at a government services location.
• Monitor access points, verify visitor authorization as directed by site procedures, and maintain awareness of activity within assigned areas.
• Respond to incidents, disruptions, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate site personnel and/or emergency services when required.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior areas, exterior grounds, entrances, and perimeter locations to help identify and report unusual conditions or unauthorized activity.
• Document daily activities, incidents, and observations in clear reports, and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal supervision and site representatives.

Minimum Requirements

• Possess at least 1 year of armed security-related, law enforcement, or military experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
